IT Technician

Primary Function

Responsible for providing technical support for end-users of SEABHS’ information systems by investigating, isolating and resolving software, hardware, and network problems presented by users throughout the company.  This position is also responsible for new computer roll-out.

Job Duties

  • Provides installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades to workstations, hardware, operating systems, and application software.
  • Performs trouble shooting to isolate and diagnose problems while maintaining minimal outages.
  • Receive phone calls and requests from computer users regarding problems with computer
  • equipment issues.
  • Refer problems needing additional expertise to appropriate internal and external sources.
  • Contact hardware and software vendors to request service for defective products.
  • Provide technical support to all departments connected to the network.
  • Coordinate installations with customers and train as needed per project.
  • Coordinate assigned service requests.
  • Recommend better ways to utilize existing hardware and software.
  • Test and evaluate equipment to maintain proactive needs assessment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users.
  • Define user needs and recommend alternatives when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in computer science, information science or related
  • field and at least two years of support service OR Combination of education and experience equivalent to
  • four years.

Physical Requirements

  • Use of PC, computer terminal and/or telephone over five hours a day.
  • Frequent long, irregular hours.
  • Frequent and/or prolonged travel
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling or crouching
  • Frequent standing or moving throughout facility
  • Frequent heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 pounds)

Working Conditions:

  • Office working conditions and working at another service site.
